About

Art Drop Mini is a collaborative project conducted by the art department’s professional practices class, showcasing affordable, handmade art! The project makes available student artworks and in turn provides scholarship funding for art department students.

Throughout the winter quarter of 2018, the professional practices class has focused on jump starting the old Art Drop legacy in a new way, replacing the old, tired, and broken vending machine utilized by previous classes with two capsule dispensing machines! Each capsule costs a dollar and contains one piece of handmade art. If you are planning to stop by, remember to bring some quarters!

History

The Art Drop project started when a vending machine from the late 50's was donated to the art department and met the idea of creating commodifiable and accessible art. Although being forced into retirement this year due to it's old age, the vending machine was the start of a project that has extended through years of Professional Practices classes and it's legacy will forever be instilled in the Art Drop iterations to come.

Location

The Art Drop Mini machines are located in the Fine Arts building, one next to the entrance to the main office on the first floor and the other near the top of the far right staircase and photography lab.

516 High St, Bellingham, WA 98225, USA
